DIY Disasters Don’t Let Your Marriage Become The Final Victim

December 15th, 2011

Home improvement projects where you do all the work yourself can be a nightmare for the sake of your relationship. It’s great to believe that you’re in sync and agree on all the details. It’s another thing to face the reality that you’re probably not exactly on the same page and that neither of you really know what you’re doing.

It’s difficult to overcome differing visions of what the finished project is going to look like. Even more problematic for the sake of many relationships is the fact that there isn’t always a true agreement on the exact division of labor. You neglect to take advantage of the strengths of one person verses the weaknesses of the other.

The end result is a lot more than a destroyed vision. In some cases it can result in a destroyed marriage – if you aren’t careful.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t work on DIY home improvement projects as a couple. It just means you should be careful about certain things you do during the course of your home improvements so that your marriage isn’t in serious need of improving when all is said and done.

Get the Big Picture

You need a literal picture that the two of you can look at and see what it’s going to look like in the end. That is the only way you can be sure you’re on the same page with the renovations. More importantly, it will give you something tangible and physical to hold onto and look at when things feel as if they’re on the verge of getting real ugly between the two of you during the renovation process.

Have a composite sketch, drawing, or computer generated image of the final product and see what a difference it makes for both of you as the project progresses.

Discuss the Division of Labor

This is something you need to do before you decide to even begin the project. Keep a few important factors such as available time, expertise, and interest in the project as a whole in mind when divvying up the renovation related chores so that no hard feelings are felt as a result.

One of the biggest sticking points in marital fights is that one person feels as though the other person isn’t pulling his or her fair weight.

Have Each Other’s Backs

This is another important factor to consider as you work to make the renovations and home repairs you’re hoping to make. You need to be there for each other from the start. When the day is over and you’re tired and grumpy it’s time to give each other a nice back rub and a huge pep talk.

Remind each other of why you’re doing this and how great it’s going to be when all is said and done. This is not the time to engage in back-biting, baiting, and generating overall ill-will.

When you go about your DIY project, it may feel like a bit of a disaster during the process. But if you stick with it and see it through you’re sure to see the rainbow on the other side. You’ll be surprised at how many relationships have major problems stemming from or started as a result of a home renovation. Don’t let that happen to your marriage. If it does, watch this FREE video on how to get your ex back so you know where to start the process of making up as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Locking Down Your House And Doing The Work By Yourself For Yourself

December 15th, 2011

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a DIY type of guy. Even before I heard the term “do it yourself”, I was a do it myself kind of person. Starting and finishing projects brings me great satisfaction and seems to boost my self esteem. Sadly, I just don’t have the time to complete every project by myself these days. I hire people to do my yard work, my plumbing jobs, and even some construction projects.

This being said, there are some projects that I just can’t let go of. I’ll never let another person secure my home for me. The reason for this is that do it yourself home security is much safer than the other alternatives. Every time you bring an outside contractor in to work on your home security, you run the risk of letting a thief into your home. When a stranger comes into your home, he or she has the ability to find or even create holes in your home security.

How do you know that the guy installing your alarm system won’t disable it later when they know you are not home and easy pickings for a would be robber?

Over the years I’ve setup my own home security lighting, my own home cameras, and even my own home alarm system. I’ve even found tools that help me monitor different zones of my yard and even my driveway. There aren’t any monthly bills with my system and I didn’t have to shell out a fortune in installation costs. In fact, I even save money on my home insurance each month. Most home owners insurance policies will give you a reduced rate for having a security system in place.

Do it yourself home security really isn’t that difficult. Also, it does not have to be done all in one day. I started with the basics and worked my way up to the harder projects. I found that reinforcing the doors was the easiest project of all. For a small amount of money, a home owner can put in door jams that will reinforce the doors to the point that they will not be kicked in. All you need is some hardware, a drill and some screws.

The next project I undertook was the implementation of home security lighting. Putting in some lights is a cheap way to increase your security and it even improves the beauty of your lawn. Additionally, your less likely to fall while walking around your yard at night.

After this, I finished up my do it yourself home security with cameras and alarm systems. They cost a bit more, but make me feel safe and secure. Although it took me a few months of saving, I now know that my family will be safe and sound at night, and that is worth any price in my book.

If you wish to find out more on do it yourself home security or home security lighting, feel free to take a look at some of my sites.

Make Your Own Homemade Energy

December 13th, 2011

Occasionally someone comes along with an innovative solution, which is the case of a California man named Bill Ford. This family man was tired of paying high prices for electricity and decided to do something about it. The creator of HomeMadeEnergy.org and a fully comprehensive guide called Home Made Energy, Ford will show you how to build your own wind or solar-based generator.

In addition to producing energy from your backyard, this is an excellent way of being involved with the “green” movement of saving the Earth. Two specific guides are available, one that focuses on solar and the other that focuses on wind but consumers have a choice of buying one or both. Regardless, the information is extremely detailed and easy to follow.

Today, major electric companies and power companies do not want the public to have the information that Ford provides in the guide Homemade Energy in that as each person builds a power source using renewable energy, they lose money. People need to think of it this way, almost 94% of all energy used in America comes from electric companies and not renewable energy, showing how much these companies are depended on by consumers.

Additionally, just 0.2% of energy consumed is from wind or solar power produced by a home system. Every year, the cost of energy continues to rise, which is why so many people are interested in guides such as HomeMade Energy. As people read this information, they will discover that to make solar power by building a system in the backyard is easy, affordable, and the results incredible.

Now, some forms of renewable energy would be impossible for the average person to achieve in that the systems are large and high dollar. However, using the information in Home Made Energy, the average person will find that he or she has another option, one that will produce energy for the entire household. This is a very affordable solution, one saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars each year.

Consumers have several options for renewable energy but not all are a good choice for home use. For instance, some generators are simply too large, some are designed for commercial and not residential use, and others are simply too expensive. However, as you will find with the information in Home Made Energy, you do have a solution, one that is affordable, efficient, and effective.

In the guide, Home Made Energy, people will find that they can choose from wind power or solar power, both offering tremendous savings. The guide comes with detailed instructions based on a person’s physical location in the country, the square footage of the home, and other information so the right system is chosen. While many people prefer to build a system for wind, others want solar. However, some people will build both systems for personal, renewable energy.

Also included in the Home Made Energy guide is complete diagrams, allowing the individual to follow through the building phase with ease. In no time, the renewable energy source will be completed. What is so great is that with the information in this guide and other guides like Earth 4 Energy, people find every tool and component needed for building a wind or solar system can be found at a local hardware store. A few of the benefits that people will enjoy when using the information in the Home Made Guide includes:

* Hundreds of dollars in savings every month on electricity
* Doing your part in saving the planet
* A fun family and friend project
* Option of going 100% off-grid
* Sell excess power generated to the local electricity company
* Save more money for vacation

Would It Be Wise To Pay For Solar Powered Energy?

December 13th, 2011

We’re likely all aware that using solar energy can possibly help battle global warming, although we don’t really know how. However, it’s not simply sunshine and roses; before you putting in your money, you have to be aware that there some downsides also. Learn more prior to deciding whether it is best to set up solar panels for home.

One of the strongest reasons many buy solar panels is the fact that they can save a significant amount of money in the long haul. Drawing your power needs from a solar installation right away begins to save you money through not paying out for electrical energy. Nonetheless using solar is an expensive undertaking. You get to the stage of reveling in no cost power only as soon as you’ve recovered the large sum of money you need to pay upfront for the solar panels and installation, and this is achieved from the monthly savings, over a period of time (called payback period). Your payback period will apparently be longer if you are a light user of electricity, compared with someone who is a heavy user. You could be fortunate and get aid with the upfront cost from an unexpected source, because your government might extend an inducement for you to set up solar panels.

Added to it being a sound fiscal investment, solar energy is as well environmentally friendly – a huge positive these days. Solar energy generation does not include any combustion or emissions, unlike conventional fuel sources, which is why it’s called “clean” – the direct advantage being that it is not harmful to the environment and our health. What this means is that solar energy does not contribute to the problem of global warming and it doesn’t contribute towards acid rain either. Solar energy is sustainable and inexhaustible as the sun continues to give out energy and will continue doing so for a very long time.

The solar panels, which trap solar energy, are ordinarily installed on rooftops, where they are unobtrusive and out of immediate sight, which is in general not true of wind turbines. Obviously, if direct sun is not able to reach the solar panels, they would be ineffectual, so they need to be installed correctly. They’re also discreet when it comes to noise and odor, since they create no noise and no bad scents.

And if you dislike doing maintenance around the home, you can relax – solar energy systems can work in the background, without you moving a finger, basically for many years. Of course, one issue is that nighttime equals “lights out” for solar energy. In order to have energy when it’s dark, you can put in a battery, or other back-up system. The only cost here is for getting them installed, since they are going to be recharged free of charge with solar energy.

In conclusion solar energy is surely worth checking out. It’s clean and saves you money in the long haul, despite the fact that there are initial expenses. If high energy prices are a concern for you, and you aim to decrease your carbon footprint, solar energy offers a fantastic solution.. Eco living or green living can basically allow you to reduce costs in the long term.

Homemade Bird Feeders: Learning To Make Birdfeeders On Your Own

December 6th, 2011

Homemade bird feeders do not only attract birds but can also serve as a suitable decoration in your lawn. Another means to relax is to watch birds fly around sitting in a comfortable chair. Imagine having a bunch of them in your lawn, flying, dancing, and singing. If you are one who loves birds, then you should definitely get a bird feeder in your home. You can obtain a bird feeder in two ways. Either you can make one on your own from scratch materials found in your home, or just simply buy one. A DIY bird feeder costs far less than purchasing one directly. Building one on your own does not only save you a bunch of money but it can also be a fun activity that you can do with the family. This article will teach you on how to build a bird feeder on your own.

You must prepare first the needed things before you can start building some homemade bird feeders. You can make use of an old plastic bottle, a few wires, and several wood sticks. The equipment that you can use to help you out is a drill but if you don’t have one, you can simply use a knife. After preparing the materials and equipment needed, you must first find a spot outside and mark it so you’ll know how long will the needed wire be. Don’t forget to clean the bottle thoroughly especially if it’s a soda bottle.

The first step in building homemade bird feeders is to drill a hole on each side of the bottle. After you have successfully put holes on each side, insert the stick. The stick will be used as a platform so the birds don’t have to fly around the bottle to feed. Drill another hole a few inches above the perch so the bird can feed on the seeds. This is how simple you can build one yourself. Use the wires to hang in the location that you have saved to hang the feeder.

If you plan to build homemade bird feeders using old plastic bottles, don’t forget to wash the bottles thoroughly because you don’t want pests to destroy your craft. Watching birds rest in your bird feeder can truly be a relaxing sight. Don’t forget to hang it high enough to prevent your dog from scaring the birds away.

Benefits Associated With Using Propane Gas Heaters

December 2nd, 2011

In comparison to other gaseous fuels, startup of propane is very quick and hassle free. Just unscrewing the valve attached to the container releases the gas for use. All you’ve got to do after that is to light the burner and you have an instant flame.

Diesel or petrol used for generators emit poisonous gases like carbon monoxide which are harmful for environments and also cause depletion of ozone layer and have green house effect. Having the generator inside an enclosed area can cause build up poisonous gasses to humans as well. With the use of propane powered generators this can be avoided since they have minimal emission levels.

Propane tanks designed for domestic applications are lighter in weight as a large volume of gas is stored in a fairly small container. This is helpful for housewives who can easily replace the vacant storage containers with a new one.

You can employ barbeque grill using propane within the house without a worry for any fire as there is no burning of charcoal and no smoke too. If one of these particles falls on to a flammable material, a fire can start instantly.

Of the many fuels used for generating energy, propane heaters are the ideal because of its cost and efficiency. It also has the least levels of emissions of harmful gases. When any fuel buns there is carbon dioxide and other gases produced which cannot be avoided and contributes to global warming.

Propane stoves are ever ready to offer heat, you simply turn a knob and the flame is there. Traditional ovens and electric stoves will make you wait till they warm up.

All over the world millions of households make use of propane as a fuel for keeping their home warm in winters and for cooking food or for having hot water bath, which goes to prove that that propane is a dependable fuel for day to day life.

Regulating the flow of propane is very easily done by having a regulator in the circuit that controls the flow of propane flowing thru the nozzle. This is how you can have a control over the temperature of the flame. This feature is of special help in case of cooking devices as well for room heating systems, as other fuels used for such applications don’t allow such a fine control.
